As most of you know, I started a summer internship a couple months ago with FlightSafety International’s Simulation Systems Division in Broken Arrow (that’s quite a mouthful haha!). I’m loving every minute of it, but it’s almost coming to an end. I’ll go into that in detail soon, but on to the description of what I do.
I’ve been assisting the other software engineers with some of the stuff they work on. All this is in an effort to get my experience built up. I’m liking it. The office I work at builds flight simulators and gets them ready for either commercial jobs or military jobs. The portion I work on deals with the instructor’s station. Basically what the instructor should be able to do after all is said and done is to help train the pilots better by manipulating the simulation. They can add malfunctions, pop circuit breakers and monitor the simulation. Most times it’s recorded, and fed to a debfrief station, so that the instructor can show the pilots what went right and what went wrong.
The internship is only expected to last a couple more weeks, and with things the way they are, I can’t be promised anything permanent. Everyone is suffering from the bad times. Job markets really suck right now. Even looking for a full-time job is getting stressful. I’m looking but it’s hard hard hard!
Anyway, I’ll update more as I have it.
Chris
