What The Hell?

On August 3, 2009, in General, by Chris

As most of you know, our president is attempting to push a health care reform to Congress. Now, as I have not read this bill, I could be wrong about some things. I picked this up off another blog, and thought I’d write something on it. On this blog there was a link to an interview between the former Lt. Governor of New York and Fred Thompson, a radio show host. In this interview she talks some about the health care reform being pushed through Congress presently.

Let me reiterate: I have not read this bill, I only know what I have heard. On page 425 of this bill, she says, it states that anyone on social security or Medicare would be required to undergo a counseling session every 5 years on how to end their lives passively. To emphasize on my title: WHAT THE HELL? It could be me, but this sounds an awful lot like borderline assisted suicide. Of course, this is widely open to interpretation, but for your own interpretation, listen to the interview in its entirety. The link will be posted at the end of the blog.

Another aspect I find most disturbing is the denial of health care for people with terminal illnesses such as Alzheimer’s, which in itself falls under the category of “counseling sessions on how to end your life more passively”. Oh, and get this, if you find out you have such an illness, in addition to the 5 year counseling session, you get to undergo another one. Is that something you want to hear after just hearing you have an illness that maybe, just maybe, can be treated? I again go to WHAT THE HELL?

Now I am all for a change here, but I have to agree with the writer of the other blog, this isn’t how it needs to be done. Government controlled healthcare is definitely not the way to go. If the government starts controlling healthcare, it will start making the attempt to control other aspects of our lives. Eventually it could end up all like a dictatorship, or worse.

Now, let me emphasize, this is my own opinion, and does not reflect anybody’s view but my own.

Listen to this interview in its entirety, and see what you make of this. To me, this is scary stuff.
