Reaching Out…

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

For some of us, it’s very difficult to step out of our comfort zone and reach out to people, especially when it comes to the ministry. It makes us uncomfortable to minister to someone or invite them to church. I have had this problem several times and it still kind of shakes me up when I talk. This is something I’m working on, with the help of my church family.

Foundations Church is starting an outreach project called the One Project. It’s designed so that everyone brings at least one person to church, and they invite someone. It’s all about outreach and inviting people to church. Foundations is about reaching lost people and exposing them to God.

I’m writing this to get the word out. The One Project is an awesome way to get your friends/family involved in church. I’m always very very excited to be at church every Sunday and I want other people to be excited about church. We believe church can be fun and life-changing at the same time. It can be an awesome experience, and that’s what we aim for. God can do amazing things in your life, and I want to show you that it’s true.

And, I want to see this go beyond the One Project. I definitely want to see Foundations packed out with people wanting to seek God every week. Let’s get to it and invite, invite, invite!

As always, be blessed!

Weekend Review!

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

So, it’s been a great weekend!  I love a lazy weekend.  I hate that their so short though!  Here’s what happened:

  1. Went skating in Broken Arrow Friday night.  Good exercise.  Love it!
  2. Spent most of Saturday being lazy.  I went to the new apartment complex I’ll be moving into next month and got a few things settled for the big move.  I’m pretty excited.
  3. Saturday evening I went to Memorial HS to help the Foundations Church worship band practice.  It was fun.  They do such a great job on Sundays and they always work hard to prepare.
  4. Sunday was awesome at Foundations Church.  I love seeing the great things God is doing at our church.  I know I sound repetitive when I say that but it’s just so awesome.  I pulled triple duty again Sunday but man it’s so much fun!
  5. Had lunch with the Dalrymples on Sunday. Roast with potatoes and carrots, spinach and mac and cheese! Delicious!
  6. Played some basketball last night.  Whoo-hoo!  Got better.  Had a few friends from Muskogee come up and play too.  I hope they had fun.

I love my life and my friends.  They’re an awesome group of people.

Prayer Requests

  • Keep the people in my last request segment in your prayers.
  • My friend’s cousin, who had the premature baby, is going through a new trial.  I found out last night that the baby died.  Please keep them in prayer and pray that God guides them through this difficult time.
  • Continue to pray for me as I continue my Christian walk.
  • I found out Shannon and his wife Sandy are expecting another baby!  Keep them in your prayers for a healthy pregnancy and birth.

I still highly encourage you to come out to Foundations Church!  It will be awesome and life-changing!  Of course, here’s what you need to know:

Foundations Church meets at Memorial High School (5840 S. Hudson, Tulsa) at 10:30 on Sundays.  This Sunday we’re also having an evening service at 6 PM.  Come out and experience an awesome event!  God will be doing something amazing!  I can feel it!

That’s all for now!  Remember, be Thank-Full (full of thanks, spelling intended) for everyday!  And, as always, be blessed!

I Need To Stop Slacking Off…

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

Yes, I’ve been slacking off with this blog. I’m so sorry! I’ll try to stop slacking off! I promise!

Here’s some highlights from the last few weeks:

  1. I love my church! I love the awesome things God is doing there!
  2. Been working like crazy. I love my job though. I’ve been pulling overtime the last few weeks to get my jobs ready. It’s still fun!
  3. Started walking with a friend of mine last week. I’m going to try and drop some of this weight I’ve gained.
  4. I love playing basketball with the guys from Foundations! It’s a great workout and it’s awesome to hang out with a great group of friends.
  5. I spent the weekend just relaxing. It’s always good to have a lazy weekend every now and again!

Things have been going so great! I love where my life is headed and it’s amazing to think of all the great things that are in store for me!

Prayer Requests:

  • Of course, keep praying for those I have lined out in earlier entries (friends, family, church family).
  • A friend of mine has a grandfather who’s not doing so well. Please pray that God will help him through this, and pray for her and her family that God would be with them in their time of need.
  • Another friend of mine sent a request earlier for her cousin. She had a baby boy and she was only 5 months and 3 weeks along. The baby is 1 pound and 5 ounces and has had major complications. Please keep them in your prayers as well.
  • And of course, pray for me, as I continue on my Christian walk. I know God has some major plans for me and I would love to see what they are. Please pray for and encourage me as I continue on this path. I get reminded more and more everyday that Jeremiah 29:11 is so true!

I love what is going on at Foundations Church too! It’s amazing to see the awesome things God is doing there! I would love to see some of you there! Here’s what you need to know:

Slacking Off Again…

Saturday, May 22nd, 2010

So, I’m slacking off an incredible amount in updating this.  I’ve been quite tired lately because of all the whacky weather going on.  For those of you who don’t live in Oklahoma or haven’t been watching the news, we’ve been hit hard by storms in the last couple weeks.  One of them wound up waking me up at 5 in the morning with the tornado sirens going off.  I wound up going to work at 6 that because I couldn’t sleep.  I figured if I was up I might as well get in some extra time to take care of stuff.  The forecast looks good for the weekend so I’m relatively happy about that.  I’m hoping it doesn’t rain anymore, or at least for a long time.  I’m loving the nice weather and I love going out to the lake.  But what really excites me about the weekends is Sundays.  I never used to be so excited about Sundays, but nowadays it’s just so awesome.  For those who don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s Sundays at Foundations Church in Tulsa.  It became an awesome life changing experience for me and I’m loving what I do there.  I love the people there.  They are my church family.  If you want to check it out, here’s what you need to know:

Where: Memorial High School (5840 S. Hudson) Tulsa, OK
When: Sundays @ 10:30 AM
Can’t make it? Surf to www.fctulsa.tv and click the “Watch Live” link on the homepage.  You can view our live Internet stream which will start a few minutes before service with the announcements.  The service usually starts at 10:30.  If you can’t watch live at that moment, check back later that Sunday or Monday or Tuesday and the recording will be made available (you can click the link on the top of the “Watch Live” page to view the service recordings, and recordings of some past services).  You can also listen to podcasts of past sermons by going to the Podcast page under the Media menu.

You can always contact me if you have any questions.  If I don’t know the answer, I can try to find someone who does.

As always, be blessed!

Back To The Grind…

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

Well, last week was kinda rough but I made it and had a nice weekend.  Here’s what’s happened up until today:

  1. Had a lazy weekend for the most part.
  2. Did a little spring cleaning in the apartment.  It looks a little better but I still need to do some stuff.
  3. Had an awesome Sunday at Foundations Church.  We had 5 people ask Christ to be their savior.  It was so awesome!  I love what God is doing there!
  4. Had lunch with Shannon and Justin after church.  Awesome guys and just fun to hang out with!
  5. Got a new responsibility last night with the church.  I get to edit and upload the service recordings.  I’m pretty excited about that.  Thanks Shannon for showing me how to do that!
  6. Had breakfast with some of the guys from church this morning (Band of Brothers) at Jimmy’s Egg.  I enjoyed that thoroughly!  Definitely looking forward to next time!

I’m looking forward to some other things this week!  Tomorrow night is One night at Agora Coffee Shop!  I’m pretty excited!  Thursday night I get to spend time at Thrive at TU.  Saturday Thrive is meeting up to make sandwiches for the homeless.  So I have quite a bit to look forward to this week.  Next Monday is Foundations’ second basketball fellowship.

Prayer Requests:
Keep praying for those I have requests in for from my earlier entries.  Keep praying for the city of Muskogee and the victims of the Arrowhead Mall shooting from over two weeks ago.  Keep praying for me as I continue on my walk with Christ and that He guides me down the path He wants me to travel.

If you have any prayer requests please send them my way.

Be sure to come out to Foundations Church this Sunday!  It’s going to be amazing!  The sermon series “Dr. Love” is continuing and Justin will hit it hard!  If you let it it will change your life!  I promise!  Here’s the info you all might want to know:

What: Foundations Church
Where: Memorial High School (5840 S. Hudson, Tulsa)
When: Sundays @ 10:30
Can’t make it in person? Surf to www.fctulsa.tv and click Watch Live.  You can view the live stream starting at 10:30.  If you can’t watch live keep an eye on the Service Recordings page to see when that day’s recording will be uploaded.  You can check out the rest of the site too including podcasts.

Hope you all have a great week! Be blessed!

Life in the Last Two Weeks

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

Life still is going well, even in the last two weeks. There have been some stresses but I can’t complain. My friends and family have been so awesome and supportive of me and I thank everyone of you for it. Thank you thank you!

Found out today that the simulator I’m working on will need to be somewhat ready by March 15th. So I’ll be working hard to make sure that happens. I think it will be. I’m not worrying yet. :)

I still love the job. I flew a simulator with a visual on it. Motion sickness big time! It wasn’t even on motion, but it was enough to make me sea sick! It was fun to see though. I’m ready to see the sim I work on with a visual. I certainly made my dad jealous. :-)

I’m still volunteering at Foundations Church by running the sound and helping with setup and tear down. It’s a great privilege to be able to do that for the church I’ve come to consider as a church home. The staff and other volunteers are just amazing! I’m so glad to be there.

Be sure to be there this Sunday! It’s going to be a great service with some awesome people. If you can’t make it, we have an Internet stream that will be broadcast live this Sunday at service. We did have some technical difficulties with that but hopefully will be resolved this Sunday. If you did try to watch it, so sorry! Hopefully the problems will be resolved!

That’s all for now! Be blessed!

Chris’s Weekend Review

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

Such a great weekend! I was so glad to be back at Foundations Church this weekend. It was good to be back with my new church family. So, here’s what’s happened so far:

  1. Went to Muskogee and spent time with my awesome parents. I love hanging around with them.
  2. Caught up with my friends and former co-workers at the Muskogee Skate Center. It was good to be back there and just have some fun.
  3. My sister Makenzie got married yesterday. Yea, I know, “Chris, you don’t have a sister.” Yes, I do. Kenzie is close enough to me that I will consider her a sister for a very very long time.
  4. Had a great Sunday at Foundations. Wonderful time with a great group of people.
  5. Bought a Macbook Pro this weekend. Actually, just bought it. I’m typing on it now. It takes some getting used to.

Still got some weekend ahead. I have tomorrow off, so I may go visit some friends in Tahlequah. This is weather permitting. I don’t know about any of you, but this snow is driving me nuts!

That’s all I have for now.

A Date Which Will Live In Infamy…

Monday, December 7th, 2009

“Yesterday, December 7, 1941 – a date which will live in infamy – the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.”

These words were spoken by Franklin D. Roosevelt one day after the brutal attack on Pearl Harbor. Also contained in this speech was a request for a formal declaration of war against Japan. Up until the attack, America had remained neutral in what is known as World War II.

Always Remember…

It’s been sixty-eight years
Since that fateful Sunday
When Pearl Harbor was bombed
And Japan asserted fear
Many were scared
And found themselves wondering
Just how much more we could bear.
The US responded with all it could muster
They responded with pride
This was no lackluster.
Our troops soon succeeded
And brought victory home
Japan had conceded
We stood strong through it all.
Today we remember those souls
Who fought for our very freedom
From Japan’s jungles to Normandy’s rocky shoals.
Never forget our veterans’ pride
As they fought to defend us
So we could still keep our stride.

Today, I honor those who fought in World War II so I could have a place to call home. Today, I honor those who who have fought and died for our country in the past, present, and future. Today, I honor those who still fight overseas so we can be free.

My thoughts and prayers go out to those military families who have lost loved ones because of war, be it World War II or today’s wars. My thoughts and prayers also go out to those military families who still have loved ones in service and are continuing to fight for our freedoms every day. You will always have my support, and with that, I send out a big:

THANK YOU!!!

A Little Too Far?

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

OK, I admit, I’m not too fond of the healthcare reform our dear president is attempting to table. From what I’ve read, I think that this goes a tad too far. According to this Fox News Article, a North Carolina lawmaker received a death threat over the health care reform. OK, really? Who is so immature to do that? I mean, I understand if you don’t agree with it, but don’t threaten people’s lives. That’s going a tad too far. That’s really all I have to say on that one. Read the article to learn more. Just do me a favor, don’t threaten people’s lives just because you don’t agree with them.

White House in a bind?

Friday, August 7th, 2009

OK, so I found myself laughing a tad today. For this particular reason I found out that the White House collecting the info I mentioned in the post Big Brother is Watching? the White House has asked citizens to report anything “fishy” to them at a certain email address. This strikes me as an Orwellian tactic designed solely for them to play Big Brother. Now, the tide may have turned. Turns out, it may be illegal for the White House to do just that. Onto the bind…

Apparently the White House must retain all communications that it receieves. If they attempt to remove anything, it violates a statute. On the other hand, if they attempt to collect anything on free speech, another statute is violated. This, of course, is referring to the Privacy Act of 1974. This act was passed after the Nixon administration attempted to use federal agencies to investigate individuals for political purposes. It was enacted after the Watergate scandal and Nixon’s resignation.

So, if the White House attempts to collect information on free speech (such as anything “fishy” on the health care debate), they are breaking the law. However, if they attempt to delete any record of such communications, they are breaking the law. See their predicament? Oops on their part.

Oh, and the best part? The White House can’t be sued because of “sovereign immunity”, unless harm has been done. I’m thinking it has, with the near infringement on both our First Amendment rights and our right to privacy. I honestly don’t think sovereign immunity applies. I, for one, feel my rights could have been infringed upon.

I have an idea: Stop focusing on turning the country into a socialist-driven near-Nazi empire, and preserve the democracy and freedoms we enjoy today.

(OK, so I may be overreacting a tad, but from what I’ve read, I have every right to do so.)
